GAPA’s campaign platform prioritizes support for, and increased awareness of, Chicago’s new police accountability councils in each of the city’s 22 police precincts.

District Councilor Development and support

Develop new and organize existing resources for district councilors to help them run effective meetings, build stronger political relationships, advance the police accountability movement, and foster creative spaces for alternative responses to public safety concerns at the neighborhood level.

Community Participation in District Council Meetings

Assemble a neighborhood-level database of community organizations to share weekly updates for upcoming district council meetings and conduct teach-ins and seminars on ECPS and ongoing police issues to improve community meeting attendance, meaningful civic engagement, and expand the police accountability movement across the City.

More Funding for Councilors and Meetings

Work with the ECPS coalition, philanthropy, and accountability partners within the City to increase the salary and expand the budget for district councilors to accurately reflect the workload necessary to execute the expectations of the office successfully.
